NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination)

The NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) is the official licensing exam for nurses in the United States, Canada, and Australia. It is administered by the *National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)* and consists of two main types of exams based on the level of nursing practice:

1. NCLEX-RN (Registered Nurse)*
– Required for individuals who want to become a *Registered Nurse (RN)*.
– Focuses on advanced nursing concepts, critical thinking, and patient management.
– Eligibility: Must have completed an *Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)* or *Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

2. NCLEX-PN (Practical Nurse)*
– Required for individuals who want to become a *Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)*.
– Covers basic nursing care, patient support, and routine medical procedures.
– Eligibility: Must have completed a *Practical Nursing (PN) program.

These exams assess nursing competency using the *NCLEX Test Plan*, which includes:

Both exams use *Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT)*, meaning the test adjusts its difficulty based on the candidate’s responses.
